Since factory #183 has been producing the T-34 the longest and their evacuation was calmer than STZ's, so their technologists and engineers had the most time to spend on figuring out how to cut costs.Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09622237223229485503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-32929352768828343032017-03-04T10:02:31.870-05:002017-03-04T10:02:31.870-05:00What was #183 doing to deliver the same product at...What was #183 doing to deliver the same product at lower cost?UnderTheRadarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14329538889911645638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-79360405064132417712017-03-02T16:11:59.528-05:002017-03-02T16:11:59.528-05:00The table doesn't list every component that go...The table doesn't list every component that goes into a tank or the cost of assembly. This cost can be very high. For example, the cost of repairing (not building anew) the T-34 prototypes after the run from Kharkov to Moscow was 98,180 rubles, and almost all of that is just labour, not parts.Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09622237223229485503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-37050864396789715452017-03-02T15:12:56.903-05:002017-03-02T15:12:56.903-05:00The cost of the tracks is staggering. For the KV-1S, I see 12,000+65,000+27,000+23,000=127,000 (the 23,000 is an approximation for 200 track links + 200 pins--not sure if those are the right numbers). The table says that this should add up to 225,000.Chits 'n' Thingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01819307975178436315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-52959886244601677832017-03-02T09:26:10.211-05:002017-03-02T09:26:10.211-05:00Yup, fixed.Yup, fixed.Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09622237223229485503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-13142512354082560732017-03-02T02:40:01.413-05:002017-03-02T02:40:01.413-05:00"However, the KV-1S was not only simpler, but..."However, the KV-1S was not only simpler, but lighter than the KV-1S."
