The required range is simulated by adjusting the amount of propellant to achieve the appropriate velocity.

In the Tiger's case the armour was also struck at an angle since none of the guns involved had considerable difficulty with it head on.Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09622237223229485503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-31459396048449533632021-07-09T13:54:03.961-04:002021-07-09T13:54:03.961-04:00am I reading the report right, the range for the 6...am I reading the report right, the range for the 6pdr and 17 per was done at 150yds? thats point blank so no wonder the tiger took so much damage. it also is a credit to the tigers armour to be hit so many times at such sort range is incredible.
.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10396844719422249340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-62230091674054286232020-12-02T15:24:22.281-05:002020-12-02T15:24:22.281-05:00Thanks for letting me know, I updated the links. Thanks for letting me know, I updated the links.Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09622237223229485503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-20990757980517739222020-11-30T01:53:01.385-05:002020-11-30T01:53:01.385-05:00Unfortunately the links to the 3 Reports/results a...Unfortunately the links to the 3 Reports/results aren't working at the moment?KAS_118https://www.blogger.com/profile/10120042349266442519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-82957928841009642012016-06-21T09:34:28.221-04:002016-06-21T09:34:28.221-04:00No shatter of nose glacis, nor spalling of thickes...No shatter of nose glacis, nor spalling of thickest mantlet armour, indicating a tough plate. Spalling is present in thinner plates, which are hardened to higher levels at the expanse of toughness in order to protect against anti-tank rifles.

It should be remembered when reading the document that "penetration" does not mean a complete penetration of the penetrator occurs, the british "penetration" is closer to a holing limit (similar to US ARMY BALLISTIC LIMIT), in which the plate is holed in a way that light is permitted through the plate. None of the 17pdr APCBC or APDS hits on the glacis went through in thee trials. They all ricochetted off.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-68312046736887455222016-04-26T00:05:48.912-04:002016-04-26T00:05:48.912-04:00All good stuff.
