Contents: acceptance of the SU-57 57 mm SPG

1. Accept the 57 mm SPG produced on the chassis of the SU-76M SPG into service with anti-tank artillery regiments. Give it the name "57 mm SU-57 SPG model 1944".


2. Order the People's Commissar of Medium Manufacturing (comrade Akopov) and Molotov GAZ (comrade Loskutov) to begin production of the SU-57 beginning in October of this year, as a part of general SU-76M production, according to the following schedule:
  • October 1944: 15 SU-57
  • November 1944: 50 SU-57
  • December 1944: 100 SU-57
Order the People's Commissar of Armament (comrade Ustinov) and factory #235 (comrade Chebotarev) to provide the Molotov GAZ factory with SU-57 armament, as a part of general supply of SU-76M armament, according to the following schedule:
  • October 1944: 40 units
  • November 1944: 75 units
  • December 1944: 125 units."

  1. In 1944 the German's had basically ceased offensive operations. As such a SU-76 was more valuable for it's larger HE shell, as we learned in the same argument regarding early T-34s. What 57mm anti tank guns they had work fine when towed into a defensive position protecting flanks.

    1. On the other hand using the long 57mm in a new lightweight 4 ton ASU-57 was a perfect use of military resources. It provided just a degree of protection and mobility, but at 4 tomes did not waste resources and was light enough to be a useful air dropped gun.
